Gold Medalist in M.A. Bharatnatyam from RABINDRA BHARATI UNIVERSITY, CALCUTTA, Guru BalakrishnaMarar was initiated into the world of performing Arts at a very early age in his childhood by none other than his father (Late) Guru KALACHARYA PS MARAR, a renowned OTTANTHULLAL and ASHTAPADI artist of Kerala and the gene factor has quite prominently been incessant action in Bala Ji, our revered Guru, who is the Founder Director of VishnupriyaNatyalaya that is set to celebrate its SILVER JUBILEE this year.
Guru Marar is a talented dancer, an eminent choreographer and above all, a committed teacher acclaimed for employing his passion in the art of dance and consistent efforts in molding great dancers for the past 30 years. He is an exponent in BHARATNATYAM, KATHAKALI, OTTANTHULLAL, KALARI PAYATTU (Martial art), CREATIVE CONTEMPORARY COMPOSITIONS and INDIAN BALLET AND FOLK DANCES. .

Guru BalakrishnaMarar is far beyond this description. The HoD of Music and Dance Department at Bal Bharat Public School for last more than 25 years, he is a mentor to his students, always inspiring them to set examples of excellence. From choosing a music and setting it to its right rhythm of his students and making the whole programmecolourful with brilliant light and sound effects, he has many accomplishments to his credit:
- Delhi State Best Choreography Award for three consecutive years (2005, 2006 and 2007)
- International Best Choreography Award for three year (2007, 2008 and 2011) organized by ICCR.
